Is there a restraint or limitation on becoming a Virtual Assistant?
Do you feel stuck or do you feel that you are not growing anymore in the industry that you are into right now? Do you want changes and want to pursue more without the pressure of having to climb up the corporate ladder?
I was as an Executive Virtual Assistant for 6 long years back in the days. But since the motherhood journey has called me, I have to quit and take care of my kids.
Don’t get me wrong, I loved my job. When I was still in college, I used to cut classes because I got curious how Adobe Photoshop works. The graphic design, photo manipulation and what not. I read a lot of articles and tutorials until I discovered the world of web designing, HTML, CSS, database and SQL. I may sound a bit nerdy, but, yes, I created my first website in my local server on my computer from scratch with HTML and CSS. It was then I realized my love for online technology – websites, designs, optimizations so it will load faster and many more.
Fast forward, I had my dream job as an Executive Virtual Assistant working for Canadian, Australian, English and American clients. I love the comfort of working and earning at home, plus I get to see and take care of my kids often. Freelancing is best with people who love staying at home but want to keep themself occupied. The most part I love about being an online worker, are the benefits of working and learning at the same time. I was not an expert when I had my first client. I don’t even know what WordPress was. I only knew about SEO, since it was my first job after college. I also knew customer service since I was also a technical customer support. My clients were patient for the things I didn’t knew. And in return, I was hardworking and determined to learn. And that’s where I started my journey as an online freelancer.
After 6 years of working as a Virtual Assistant, I have a small business – an ONLINE business. Now in order to introduce my business and products, it requires social marketing, SEO, and even building my own ecommerce website via Shopify. That was not all, I also enrolled for QuickBooks training because as an entrepreneur, we also handle the financial management apart from marketing and operations.
Being an entrepreneur, it did not stop me to learn more and even adapt to the new technologies in sales and marketing. But you know what’s funny? My love for knowledge. After 9 years in the business industry, there’s still that part in my heart, misses and longing to work and learn more.
Is it too late to start a career as a Virtual Assistant?
